  • Description of Research

We are interested in the designing principles of cells and their synthetic biology applications. Currently, a major focus of the lab is photosynthesis regulation and redesign in cyanobacteria. We apply experimental evolution, genetics, and biochemistry approaches to identify and characterize genetic traits associated with increased photosynthetic efficiency in cyanobacteria. The long-term goal of this research is to transfer these genetic traits into crop plants for increased photosynthesis and food production.
