    New Student Information

    To do list for all new students before first day of class:

    • Review the Microbiology and Cell Science Graduate Student Handbook: 2021-2022 MCS Graduate Handbook
    • Review the online orientation for new graduate students (optional if you attend on campus orientation)
    • Attend New Graduate Student Orientation – Tentatively planned for August 16.
    • Attend New Graduate Teaching Assistant Orientation – Attendance is optional. Dates to be announced later this summer.
    • Attend the Microbiology Graduate Teaching Assistant orientation (REQUIRED) organized by Dr. Monika Oli, Lab Coordinator for Microbiology and Cell Science. Wednesday, August 18, and Thursday August 19, 2021 – contact Dr. Oli with questions.
    • Attend the 2021 Microbiology Graduate Symposium (REQUIRED) – The symposium will be held on August 20-21 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
    • Classes and teaching responsibilities for students begin on Monday, August 23, 2021, for the fall 2021 semester.

    To do list for International Students:

    • Receive your I-20: Review the International Student Services website for an instructions on how to receive your I-20.
    • Receive your Visa: Review the International Student Services website for instructions on how to apply for your Visa.
    • Complete the check-in process for new international students.
    • Students who scored 23-27 on the TOEFL iBT (or 45-50 on the SPEAK test) will be permitted a provisional teaching assignment if they concurrently enroll in EAP5836 (Academic Spoken English 2). In addition to this, the UF SPEAK Test can be completed with a score of 50 or higher to waive the requirement to take EAP5836.
