Financial Assistance

The Department of Microbiology and Cell Science offers half-time teaching and research assistantships for twelve months for Ph.D. candidates. The amount of the stipends for the 2006-2007 is $21,000. In addition to the assistantship, all students also receive a tuition waiver which increases the value of the assistantship by more than $6234 per year for Florida residents and over $21,359 per year for non-Florida residents.  Applicants with outstanding credentials may be nominated for competitive Graduate School or College of Agricultural and Life Sciences awards. Additional graduate student support is available from individual faculty's research grants. Long- and short-term loans are also available.
